Daniel Rossen is like thoroughly avant-folk lol

Bold but just so crazy it might work

Listening now and can definitely hear Silberman in the production. Nice contributions from Ryley Walker, Samantha Crain, and J Mascis as well.

This is the best Coldplay album I’ve heard in years

Forgot to follow up after the first full listen but: I did enjoy this quite a bit more than I did Yolk in the Fur back in 2018, remains to be seen quite how much I like it but I can definitely see myself falling for it if I connect to the lyrics.
And lol neek I definitely got some Coldplay vibes too in spots...

On the same page, still wish for more Lake Eries in the future but overall this is gorgeous so far
And yes boney hahaha even a little Chris Martin in the vocals

First go fave was probably "Sucking on the Birdshot" though that might just be for the degree to which it shakes things up - very much the climax of the record. And what a transition from "See You Better Now" into that too!

Yeah, the transition from See You Better Now to Sucking On The Birdshot is so good...
Hadn't thought of Coldplay at all when listening to this, but will give it some consideration on the next spin.

The hushed vox on this one are VERY hushed. To the degree that it annoyed me on first listen.

Nice, sounds like a great atmosphere for this one.
I thought you might love this one but wasn't sure, I know you were skeptical they'd ever surpass Yolk In The Fur (as was I, for that matter).

I stand by the Coldplay comparison, obvs this is much stronger than anything they've released in years, but the tones, the warmth, the vocals, it all feels like Parachutes and Viva La Vida had some real sway here, intentional or not
That's hardly an insult coming from me lol

Still gotta check this out, but the Americana tag does have me intrigued

This is like excruciatingly slow. It’s been difficult for me to sit down and get a full listen in because I legit keep falling asleep. I only partially blame the album for it. May be unpopular, but I think a folk/Americana album like this can rarely justify the run time. Big Thief, Zach Bryan, this one - All albums I should love, that are essentially right up my alley, are instead just slogs to get through.
This may end up proving me wrong cause I haven’t actually fully listened to it yet, but if Big Thief didn’t do it for me I don’t think this is the one to change my mind. Sucking on the Birdshot is good though

The Hell is Cold to ILYSM (lack of) transition is so jarring it sounds like a mistake.

I’m still digging into this, but I do like it, especially the title track and the stretch from “Simple Glyphs” to “The Grass Widow…”

The closer is my least favorite among those, but yeah you can count it in that run too. I do think this could stand to lose a couple tracks in the early/mid sections.
