yeah exactly.....they rip his clothes off as Damaged starts.....of course I was whistling as I Am I ended just before that happened.....sounded like I was pleased that his clothes were off looool

Been jamming this a lot in my daily commutes and it gets tighter with every listen. It's very much LaTorre-era but it also gives me a genuine queensrychappiness that I didn't think could be possible by now. So many highlights too, like at least half of it for me!

Lost in Sorrow sounds like a RfO ballad that's been made heavier through an Empire coat

Chapters' solo section is fun with that descending progression that pops up throughout


Out of the Black is Mindcrimey catchiness and even moderately emotional

Hold On around 4:00 almost quotes Gentle Giant's A Cry for Everyone

The hazy second half of Nocturnal Light is pretty cool in context (def feel less special by itself though)

Between the Walls rocks hard

Yea - really digging most of this, although I still find myself fighting the urge to hit skip when about halfway through The Forest - not a fan of that one. Enjoying Wilton's guitar tones on those vintage amps, so much so that I created a couple of patches on my HD-500X in an effort to emulate the Mindcrime and Empire tones so I could jam some QR riffs and solos.



Overall, pleased with this record save a couple of nitpicks with the ballad section. ;)

I agree, Forest starts fine enough but it surely lacks some kind of important section. Like a nice clean solo, maybe even an acoustic one, or an extended instrumental ending to zone out to

This is wearing off on me already. I do like it, but it suffers from not having any amazing songs. If I had to rank the individual songs, 6 of them are neck in neck and all under a rating of 4. It also has a few songs that aren’t that great. The best song on here would probably be 7th best if it was on The Verdict.

The Verdict is loaded with the big choruses, tons of tasteful guitar licks, great solos, harmonious background vocals, and I thought LaTorre did a great job on a lot of his lines.

dam guys this does nothing but grow for me, I feel there's a richness in the songwriting that wasn't there before other than a few songs, here instead it's everywhere even in the weaker ones making me excited to come back for a 5th spin haha. Only ones I'm not that into are Forest and Realms.
Grillo is also growing on me a lot, I miss SRock but Grillo can still offer some really great parts when he wants to.
Also the choruses here at their Toddbest.

I do enjoy it Sabs. Especially due to the Rage For Order and Empire overtones throughout. That’s what I hear a lot of when listening to this. I’d be lying though if I said I love any one of these songs. Maybe that will change.

I’m going with Nocturnal Light as my early favorite. Very cool song…

I agree that it's not an album of instant favorites, on my first listen it was a bit of a blur and my first comment in the thread reflects it, but the songs took shape with every listen for me.
Another thing is that Whip-Lundgren probably was a stronger couple for the solos, a bit too many solos here feel like they could have been more memorable whereas both CH and Verdict had some real scorchers.

It's all in the full package here imo. My biggest growers so far are Lost in Sorrow and Out of the Black. Vocals really shine on both, the former having some uncanny Tate moments and the latter nails the anthemic current-era chorus to a tee (and to type this I just discovered it's not "to a t"). And really, the intro of Lost in Sorrow sounds like a fusion of Empire t/t + Infra Red and then at the end there's the church-ish synth oh mannnnnn

This is the album I needed to re-fuel my Toddptimism. I'm already making peace with Verdict haha
