This is good and I’m putting my reputation (lol) on the line by saying both Willie and Johnny will dig this (less comital on the latter, but certainly worth a go for him)
Anyway… yes very pleasantly surprised. Musically it reinvents zero wheels but it doesn’t need to, elegance in simplicity. All about her voice.

It’s nice and I’m enjoying it but something about this just feels so obvious and predictable that I have a hard time getting any genuine emotional connection to it. It’s well-performed for sure but I’m not sure it ever goes beyond that really.

Yeah that’s what I thought re Johnny/Williecore
I’m also a big dink cos you already commented ^ there Johnny. Lol.

for some reason I thought you’d both commented but in a ‘might check this’ / mild intrigue sort of way and my comment was in direct response to that
I wasn’t up-to-date, clearly

Hmmm, this may be growing on me, still kinda feels stuck in solid 3.0/light 3.5 territory on the whole though

Very disappointing. Very generic, very predictable, very homogenous. Her debut was head and shoulders above this.

Don’t disagree with that take per se, guess I’m just a bit more generous than you.

Gorgeous album. A bit different to Forever Blue, but no less impressive.
