Yeah, but that's my point... as a community we are an outlier from the sites I've seen. And it's true user ratings change over time, so that data may look different in 5 years, but the professional review aggregate scores won't. It's legacy may change though; for example on Metacritic, Vespertine doesn't have any 100 scores - it wasn't as highly rated at the time as it is now. It will be interesting to see where Fossora settles in terms of her career as a whole.

It's just the "fanboys listen to the album as soon as it comes out" effect.

Looking at the rating distribution, to me it looks like it's two normal distributions atop of each other. One centered around ~4.0 and another one centered around ~2.7.

That seems roughly accurate to me too. And some of the ~2.7 team have quite prominent voices (not a bad thing). But early on, we are definitely rating it lower than other sites as a whole community.

"instead they just shit on Bjork because it's easier than having to reflect on yourself or hold yourself accountable"

I’m still of the (somewhat tangentially relevant) opinion that if IN THE WAKE OF POSEIDON were released before IN THE COURT OF THE CRIMSON KINH, it’d be seen as the watershed masterpiece of prog rock and ITC would be seen as really great warmed up leftovers.

"It's easy to write this one specifically off as a grating novelty record, but with a blend of sounds this gimmicky and a mix of themes this superficially expressed (esp for the familiar listener - it's a far cry from Vulnicura), can you really blame people."

Based Johnny.
