I don't even wanna rank them, I think they build off of each other really well

Can't go anywhere without hearing this band's name being dropped.

Absolutely nuts though that their bass player is filling in for their drummer who couldn't play on their upcoming tour.

That is what I believe they refer to as a 'chad move'.

Will prob check this out even though I thought the singles were god awful.. they released the same song 4 times! Same generic major scale corny synth lines drowning out everything in the mix (and I love a good synth, don't get me wrong), same gimmicks in every song.... bleh

that album art is still probably one of the worst I've seen even when knowing the "meaning" and all behind it, it's just objectively not very good

I’ll give this a spin tomorrow. Since Shadow of Intent started dropping albums I haven’t really spun any deathcore besides a bit of old Thy art and make them suffer. IMO deathcore can’t really get any better than Shadow of Intent.

Interesting to see the talk around Fleshgod Apocalypse. Was just thinking the other day what an under rated band they are. Not sure what it is whether it’s the name of the band or the fact they seem a little mainstream or maybe people watched the violation and decided the blast beats were a little much. No other symphonic metal band is as good.

Never got the hype for modern deathcore. Will this change my mind? I also have a hard time believing this can actually be compared to Dimmu Borgir's PEM

Now that i think about it these dudes do have a theatrical/orchestral side to them so actually that could make sense. I'll spin some tracks and see how it goes.

I didn't realize only singles were out but I'll give 'em some credit, these singles got riffs. There may be hope for me enjoying modern deathcore yet.

I have a soft spot for Wormwood-era Acacia Strain, as dumb as that album is, just because it was the first deathcore album I heard in high school. I can appreciate old Whitechapel, Oceano, etc. but a lot of that stuff is hella boring. I think new deathcore is infinitely better.

Calling TAS deathcore feels dreadfully wrong to me. Maybe they helped start things up but they've always been so sludgy especially after the first couple releases that deathcore does noooot fit their M.O.

I think Continent and Wormword definitely are, the rest after that maybe not. It was kind of dumb fun but I also barely ever listen to them anymore. With bands like Shadow of Intent, Enterprise Earth, and Brand of Sacrifice around now it's hard to care about older deathcore records. They just don't have as much going on and they're not terribly interesting to me.

This band is really good when they play anything but deathcore. Title track is the best part of this.

Not going to lie, I was hoping for some clean vocals on this. I know Will has a decent singing voice and was hoping it might be incorporated a bit in some spots. I feel it would’ve taken this band to the next level. Other than Pain Remains 1, everything else I’ve heard is very samey sounding IMO.

--If you're hearing the same song four times, then you're not paying attention to what you're listening to. The songs are all similar (as are a majority of any songs appearing on the same album), but they're definitely not 'the same' or even close.

--Might as well tell me you hate Cynic's Focus album because it's the same synth sounds in every song, and the same gimmicky 'robot voice', and same abrupt switch to jazz/new age. Just the same gimmicks in every song. And don't even get me started on Slayer... they've been using the same gimmicks for their entire career.

Naw, I literally was laughing when I heard the singles because it was so similar. It's deathcore designed for Tik Tok/reaction vids. I loved Flesh Coffin, and I've gone into everything they've released since with optimism and been sadly let down. Idk. There's a lot of potential in the ingredients they're working with and they're def skilled musicians. Clearly what they're doing is working because the kids are digging it, but to me it just sounds like if old Winds of Plague was way worse... idk.

Cynic rules, Slayer is boring. I don't neccessarily even mind when bands stick to a formula (i.e. I jam Psycroptic's last few records all the time), but, like, it had better be a damn good formula, and this aint it IMO. Slow chug breakdowns are so boring/played out unless it's Tactical Nuke by The Acacia Strain.

I'm about half way through this and finding myself quite bored. It's very samey, as expected.
