It's a decent album, nothing really special and lacks a bit of intensity. "Salt" is a really nice softer song though, those melodies just hit that perfect spot for me.

I was big into them in high school (which is ages ago now). I loved the first 3 albums + zombie. Did not care at all about Dead Throne which is also why I didn't check out 8:18 and Space. One day I randomly discovered they had a new album out with Transit Blues and I really liked that one and I liked The Act even more. I went back to Dead Throne, 8:18 and Space and they're okay, but I still much prefer the old stuff and Transit Blues/The Act. This new one seems stylistically similar to The Act but it lacks that which made me like The Act so much (and I can't really tell what that is either). It feels a bit like they were expected to release a new album every so many years, and they didn't really have the material for a full album so they stuffed it with rehashed ideas that were done better on The Act.

Some songs are still good though and I don't hate this album.

Honestly they should just stick to the themed EPs cause that’s their most focused songwriting.

I really don't care about whether it's "safe" or not. It's a good album with lots of emotion, good hooks and riffs. What more do you want?

i just want to not be egregiously bored and feel like ive heard the same mediocre underwritten song over and over and over. this gives me absolutely fuckin nothing to work with. these are not what i would define as good hooks or riffs at all, no matter what band it was from

this is really fucking good wtf

like it's definitely "softer" than most of their other stuff but the poppier and softer parts are actually compelling (hi slant plant please write better choruses)

silent planets choruses do more than just beat the first 3 scale degrees into the ground tho

my issue with slant plant might be less about the content of the choruses and more about how many of them there are

Like on this thing the cleans are (in my opinion) really seamlessly integrated; like, TDWP wrote the songs with them in mind. SP, on the other hand, sometimes seem like they’re throwing in clean choruses just because it’s melodic metalcore and melodic metalcore songs have clean choruses.

Also a part of it is definitely that I have a pretty low tolerance for higher-register cleans in my metalcore

The choruses do end up being a bit monotone but I like the vibe.

I feel like y'all would like my band Eternal Closure. New album out last week, check it out ;)
