I'm gonna listen to this since this band got me into heavy music and were my favourite for a really long time but their fall off has been sad to see

Joshieboy dont bother. I did the same, the only good thing i can say is Winston finally uses more range in his unclean vocals than ever before but the lyrics and everything else is so fucking terrible

I have listened to a few tracks and it sound fine. Not metalcore by any means but you guys are just fanboys who get angry the same way fans got mad at metallica when they released the black album. These dudes want to eat goddamit!

Im not angry that they wanted to change sound. Im annoyed that its the most boring lazy way to do it. Some of the instrumentation work displayed here in parts and on earlier releases shows they can do more than this. Winstons lyrics while they have never been top tier by any means, have taken an absolute nose dive. Look at tracks like blue and the grey or The river from Atlas. The laser focus on anthemic arena sound is going to kill any interest from longtime fans sure itll probably make bank but this band has reached the peak of metalcore, they didnt need much of a change of sound to keep their status

Bad things about this are a lot of songs sound like typical generic teen metal/hard rock, winston should have used his trademark harsh lows more



But overall ill take this over screamo because screamo sucks, this is what metalcore needs to sound like. Hardcore will always be better than metalcore because screamo is cringe

I dont care about the nerd insider knowledge meaning of screamo. I call all consistant whiny screaming screamo as do a lot of people



Only time metalcore sounds good is when the vocalist uses growls, medieval war cry voice and VERY rarely screamo, like once during a song at the most or 3/4 times throughout an album. Constant screamo = 1/5 album as does the bad pop punk like singing a lot of metalcore bands do

Out of curiosity i wonder how many "old parkway drive" fans like unearth. Unearth is proper metalcore, very rarely do any screamo and i bet a lot of "old parkway drive" fans hate that - "metalcore is boring without whiny cringey screamo"

The only band i consider metalcore by all textbook defination is converge and botch thats metallic hardcore. Unclean vocals in metalcore and Winstons mid unclean vocals arent screamo at all. Funnily enough winston actually uses highs and lows on this in parts.
