first song is not bad at all but certainly does not need to be 8 minutes long.

Man this is mad good

Drumming is some of the most engaging I've heard in BM

First track is a touch lengthy but imo the sludgy doom-like nature of it works well

Especially with the wicked percussion in that last minute or so

millennials and your short attention spans, Kuroi Kage is as long as it needs to be and kicks this gem off on the right foot. Appreciate that Mirai went full Japanese on the vocals this time, it works for me. The new guitar player adds a remarkable element of skill in the lead department and I really can't believe this is the same drummer from the past couple of decades as his performance on here outshines anything from previous releases. I think the true unsung hero on this record though is whoever produced this. Finally a new SIGH album that actually sounds great and it does wonders for the listening experience.

so apparently the wiki for SIGH is wildly inaccurate, just found this on their Bandcamp:

"Joining Mirai and Dr Mikannibal for this release are Frédéric Leclercq of Kreator, plus US drummer extraordinaire, Mike Heller of Fear Factory, along with an appearance by longtime member Satoshi Fujinami on bass. ‘Shiki’ was recorded across multiple studios, and mixed and mastered by Lasse Lammert at LSD studios in Germany"

guess I should have consulted Johnny's booklet. But at least it all makes more sense now

I feel like this record is incredibly accessible, and particularly catchy for Sigh. Shit rocks

just checked out that story and yeah, interesting. obviously there's some kind of rational explanation, like it actually having been a dream but he just didn't realize it, or being halfway asleep and reading the time wrong the first time. cool tho.

this review be gud. as for the album, i think i stand by my original statement that this is safely their best since scenes and hangman's.
