Agreed with 70s Priest but this grabs you by the balls as hard as any Priest album.

Seriously man, this is great and all and I have it rated the same as British Steel and Sin After Sin but those albums absolutely destroy this in terms of... idk what word is that I'm looking for here... authenticity? If you know what I mean. There's more a feeling of hard jamming in the classics, where this is like "yeah we're a heavy metal band and we're still relevant!"
It will just never be as good as the '70s albums in a way that ratings can't display.

This is tied with Sad Wings for me. But I do still love those other 70s classics like Stained Class and Killing Machine.

@Lloyd: I wouldn't quite say BS is better than this, but yeah, SAS sure as hell beats this.

I just feel they did this as sort of a last hurrah, as you well pointed out (I kinda hit that angle on my review of this, which is weird because my original review of this had been a 5). They wanted to prove to the world that they could still kick ass, but at the end of the day, it's just speed for it's own sake. There's not the same musical spirit of their early era, it just feels forced.

Don't get me wrong though, it's still their last great album.

I think the reason I love this so much is because this was the kind of Priest I originally imagined I'd hear when people were

hyping them up so much for me

Not the biggest fan of KM personally, but I respect those who love it. It does have some sweet tunes though (the Fleetwood Mac cover, Hell Bent for Leather, Delivering the Goods, Running Wild); but it also has duds (Evil Fantasies, Take On the World, Evening Star). However, to each their own.

Yeah, it's Priest on steroids. Maybe overdosed a bit.
