Unbelievable show- acapellas, singalongs, stories, new stuff, the whole nine yards. Can't recommend enough if he's rolling through your area.

Been listening to this a ton lately, might finally drop the 5 on it that it probably deserves.

The man is a born star. Word is new album early next year, I can't wait to see how he follows this up

"The rich and the politicians they’ve bought believe they are the architects of society, but they aren’t: people are. We persist in creating things that are slow, silly, complex, and special. We have alternatives, and I want to prove it. Nations, brands, and war machines don’t seem to understand the fundamentals: life takes everything from you. Who, how, and how much you love is everything."
God he's so fucking based

Gave the new album a first listen yesterday, first half is tearjerkers galore and super good, falls off kinda hard in the second half though.

Yeah, new one doesn't seem quite on par with this but it's still very good. The man can do no wrong. This one took time to grow on me so I'll be giving the new LP several more spins.

Couple tunes that didn't do a whole lot on first and second listen but the bookends, The Arrangements and When The Pills Wear Off are all massive tunes, everything i wanted from the follow up to this. Hype 5 for now why not

Someone's gotta review Critterland, easily my favorite album of 2024 so far.
Drooling and foolish the first time that you saw me
Said your eyes were like a Jersey cow, your tongue's so clean and country...
^ Absolutely adore his delivery of those lines.

'When the Pills Wear Off' on the new one is maybe my favourite song released this year, some pure country ballad excellence

Yeah that song is crazy good, I'm not sure I've ever heard a string section used that way in a country song.

Boney, that song definitely brings back that Bright Eyes influence again, something in his vocal delivery and the finger picked guitar chord progression.
The chamber orchestra style strings are a lovely inclusion too yeah, can't fault that song really.

Bright Eyes is still a blind spot for me - one of those artists I know I should try and invest some time in but for some reason I've just never felt overly compelled to do so.

Sometimes I feel Bright Eyes (well, Conor Oberst) can be a bit OTT and mannered but there's also a lot of talent and charisma there
