“Um what’s Northlane got to do with this?”

That bite took longer than expected.

I’m all about the extra delay where it counts.

Good review! Last I heard was Surtur Rising and I also caught them on that tour where they played it in full along with a second set of their back catalog. Was a really good show. I'll jam this even though Surtur was the last I've heard

Amon Amarth don't really inspire excitement for some reason

If I were extremely skeptical towards viking-themed melodic dm, which Amon Amarth album should I not skip?

Vs The World, With Oden On Our Side and Twilight of the Thunder God are their S tier albums for me

And hey man, I don't have a BAD time with this album, I just wish it went a bit harder is all. I pretty much love everything until the album after Deceiver of the Gods. I'm just waiting for them to bring it back beyond "passable"

y'all are being way too harsh on this album. I had a lot more fun with this than Berserker, and I wouldn't even call that a bad album. In terms of genre and expectations, I think this is a pleasant surprise in terms of quality. These guys clearly aren't going for an epic like Versus the World anymore and you can certainly dock points for that reason, but this one of the stronger collections of WOOOS clones they've churned out and enough variety to make it memorable. Probably will forget this exists in a few months, but I'm having a lot of fun with it for now which is honestly all I really hope for with a band three decades on in a fairly one-note genre
