Hard to be more overrated than Metallica

Hopefully they tour off of this and I can catch them live. Dudes who can shred on this level blow my mind when I see it in person and I'm always front row dead in front of the guitarist trying to memorize the notes for later lol. Been to hundreds of shows at this point and so far the most mind blowing I've seen was the dude from Helstar. Never jammed their albums much prior to seeing them because the vocals aren't exactly my thing but my god it was like dude had some robot fingers installed on him lol crazy shit

Came here from the Vektor thread, read this, now I feel the need to smack some pillows...

I gave this a full listen this morning and liked it quite a bit. Smashing review Plazz, I am in agreement on most points. As per usual, I’m always a little disappointed with modern metal production, but this isn’t the most egregious of instances. It definitely gets a little hectic at times, the layering is sometimes caked on too heavily. Credit is where credit is due, the songwriting and performances definity hold it up.

@Run thanks man. Yeah it's a very busy album. In fact, JC told me himself he "layered the fuck out of this record" (his words) because he felt that was what this batch of songs required. As for production there's of course bound to be some discussion but it's pretty decent as it is imho, also the band was on a tight budget and running short of time so they had to leave the mastering at this.

Cool album, I'm not a fan/or have sentiment of/to early material, because I'm to young, still Dis Morta is complex and nonobvious effort.

@cor22222 definitely never too late to check out World Circus and Think This as well, in metal "old is the new new" now more than ever and those albums will remain essential listens.

@combustion yeee as someone who saw these guys a few years back at a small venue, Josh Christian is an absolutely mindblowing player. My face melted when I was abt 5 feet away from him playing the World Circus solo. Will gave to catch Helstar if they ever come to my neck of the woods

not particularly great, but is definitely on the more interesting side riff-wise compared to most other thrash released this year. vocals are kind of distractingly bad at times. all over the map in terms of quality but there's enough good
straight razor rips
