I’ll never forget that in the 90s cartoon Doug, there was a movie series centered around a character called Waffle Stomper, who wore big-ass shoes with waffle-patterned soles. Humans were waffled

I WANNA TELL YOU THE WORST THINGS ABOUT ME

not out of anxiety,

but out of pride

and you'd laugh,

and you'd say

"I'm so glad you're mine..."

>it's not that hard to reimagine the stereotypical nu-metal fan of 20-ish years ago not as a schoolyard bully or a crass philistine, but as an outcast, a victim of society, a hurt kid in desperate need of outlets for intense, often destructive thoughts and feelings.

do... do people... not remember korn's debut album? or did they somehow fail to understand it?

It's really amazing how fast the radical vulnerability of that album got smoothed over into "whiny", though Korn themselves cert helped things along by diminishing the returns on said vulnerability into powder over the ensuing decade. Even with all it inspired idk that it's particularly representative of the genre lyrically speaking

yea it certainly went to shit after

>treating the likes of Limp Bizkit and Coal Chamber as visionary innovators is an inspired way to ruffle music nerd feathers

this is a red pill most people arent ready for but as much of a useless pillock as fred durst is, wes borland did some interesting things here and there on the early lb stuff

sepultura's roots was pretty good too, although thats less to do with it being nu metal and more to do with the tribal drumming they had for that
