"Sign of the Cross is one of the band's best songs tho"
Agreed! Lord of the Flies and 2AM are awesome as well

Not a bad album at all imo
Sign of the Cross alone justifies its entire existence

really, one of maidens best songs of alltime

Steve Harris is a great songwriter, but to this day, he still struggles to resolve a song, by changing the mood or the movement within the same structure. I feel sad that he always tries to write some firth of fifth and one for the vine but all he can write is oasis all around the world.

Middle part of the record drags a bit, but it's got some great material in the front and back end. Plus, Blaze's voice doesn't sound nearly as bad as it does on Virtual XI.

Im listening to this now after a very, very long time. I even saw them on this tour at The Ritz or some shit in Manhattan.
This is not Iron Maiden. It sounds more like my Uncle Frank's cover band. I'm not saying its bad.
I'm just saying its not Maiden.

The only Maiden album I never bothered to give at least one full spin. Wow if 'Virtual XI >' is true, this must be pretty atrocious... as Virtual XI is rather lame outside of The Clansmen. Man On The Edge is a decent Maiden galopper while sign of the cross is a bit of a snoozefest to me...

This slaps the shit out of VXI imo. This is a legitimately good record, Maiden or not, albeit with some obvious lulls. VXI is just garbage no matter how you slice it

VXI is worst maiden by far

Virtual XI is Maiden's worst, but it has Futureal and Clansman, which are superior to anything on No Prayer
