Writeup has me sold on the band, would this be a good place to start?

Kompys - no, go in order

They get progressively worse each album until Dog's Blood rebounds from Cardinals
Unless you're a vocals above all else person in which case Crisis is their best and the lush instrumentation on their s/t won't appeal to you as much

"In many ways that song's ambient slowburn feels like a template for Otherness" yes!

Really enjoying this, I'd say Season of the flood would still be a highlight in this album but it's perfectly fine as an independent single and a great teaser for thisalbum

Production is a little muddy here but not even close to being as bad as some are making out.

Sans Soleil is great, main vocalist is brilliant here.

Sans soleil is a dud. How do y'all listen to it without cringing? Asking for a friend

I'm enjoying my playthroughs of the record so far but just not sure how much replay value it all has.

The cover was awkward at first glance, but now this cover is an absolute success and very recognizable. I listened to it all over again. It was pretty good except for a few weak songs in the middle. I remember I didn't like the singles at the time.

Sans Soleil is such a tune

This sounds like it would be an absolute grower. George sounds great

Used to be hugely into these guys but kinda grew out of them. Singles from this are pretty good, but I really miss their sound from Crisis. I didn’t like any of the bluesy crap they tried, will I hate this?
