The cleans reminds me to Ulver, which isn't necessarily bad but i'm not feeling it atm, the rest is great tho

The sax at the end of Leviathan was a pleasant surprise.

That average. Might have to check.

Might just have to give this some more listens, but after a couple spins i find that the ambient sax interludes in the middle of some of the songs are very drawn out and hard to get through. there's a ton of incredibly energetic and moving bm here, but IMO it gets bogged down pretty heavily by the sax noodling passages that break it up

Is that trumpet in the middle of leviathan? For some reason my brain wants to think it's something else

According to the band’s website, the only instrument that isn’t guitar, bass or drums is the saxophone. Maybe they’re staccato-ing the fuck out of that reed to make it sound like a trumpet.

Yeah I definitely prefer this to Love Exchange Failure, feels more cohesive.

LEF sucked so makes sense
|

This was very solid. Not sure I'm totally sold on the jazzier parts though, they seem kind of forced in rather than smoothly integrated. We'll see what listen #2 brings later on!

3.0 it.

Nah, they have a bunch of guest musicians credited on their bandcamp page, including a trumpet player:
Vitaliy Havrilenko : Clean Vocals on Leviathan, Phoenix, Silence Circles & Cronus
Jay Gambit : Clean Vocals on Salt Paradise
Adam Symonds : Clean Vocals on False Light
Jerome Burns : Trumpet
Yaroslav Tovarianskyi : Doublebass
Mykola Lebed : Piano, Rhodes Piano

"They seem kind of forced in"
I actually feel like it's the BM that's forced in.
|
| |
Haha the difference in takes of this is wild. It’s cohesive, the jazz is shoehorned, the BM is shoehorned…. Very intriguing
