New Saor is streaming. Also it is a certified banger.

Saor is almost at the point where the shtick is growing thin

Hell yeah, nice review.
I really like this album. I think the americana and post-punk elements add an interesting wrinkle for their sound.

I hate to admit it but I was not terribly impressed by the two Saor singles. The shorter track lengths don't suit their style IMO, they need time to build up the epicness.
Roots is still in my top 3 favorite song from them and that bitch is almost 17 minutes lol

Album arrived today, playing it right now. First impression is actually quite positive. Pretty much feels like a more complete version of their older material.

I liked their older material but it lacked that something to me. Seeing the avg is not dropping is gonna force me to give this a go.

leviathan feels like a 5 minute song looped twice

"Don't get the hype for this at all. I mean, it's solid but nothing spectacular. The "jazz" and the BM are presented almost entirely apart from each, and neither element is particularly impressive (the jazz is better than the BM). It alternates predictably, meanders, and gets boring"
This actually rings true for me. I was really hyped for this cause I loved their last one, but this either is really good or really run of the mill depending on where you drop the needle. Also really hate the cleans on this. Sounds like some She Wants Revenge mashup or something lmao (and I like some SWR).

Really none of this is detached, there’s a clear dichotomy between harsh/clean/brass in places.
I normally avoid sax in death metal for example - but this is so well done it’s head turning.
