Dir En Grey is a mixture of K-Pop and Marylin Manson.

I like the really early L'arc en Ciel stuff, Dune is a pretty good album. But they got very boring and poppy very quickly imo. Much more interesting bands out there from their generation; Laputa, Kuroyume, Pierrot, etc

My comments keep getting deleted, but I'm being honest and I'm not trying to troll. Yes, I was expecting crustyass death metal from the top death metal list of 2022. Instead, I got Dir En Grey, Skin Tension, and a bunch of others.

You realize death metal can be fused with other genres right valtinho? Dir en grey isnt a death metal band, but id struggle to call them pop or rock either. They blend a lot of styles in their sound, so yea, maybe death metal isnt the best descriptor but it and prog metal are the best descriptors the site has. Why cant people just enjoy music without worrying about which genre it is lol

Maybe you don’t realize that this album has two reviews and your comments are on the other one

Sure, you might think I'm close minded, but it is annoying. How would you feel if you like if you listen to country music, but then you go to a best country music albums of 2022 and all you see are rap and hip hop albums? Both of these music genres attract completely different audiences. It is incorrect to think that someone who likes death metal would enjoy something like Dir En Grey, in the same way that john Denver listeners will not tolerate mexican mariachi or american rap. How is this in the same category as Undergang, Incantation, Cannibal Corpse, Origin, Creeping Death, and thousands of other death metal bands? Mixing 5 seconds of cookie monster vocals at the end of a 10 minute Justin Bieber song doesn't make it a death metal song.
