Oh fuck I forgot this was coming out

High pitched vocalist gets a bit grating, but I enjoyed this
|

I really don't like their understanding of tension and release, it's like they deliberately choose to shit on every momentum due to weirdly timed transitions.
|
| |
Some transitions are maybe a bit abrupt yeah, especially on dead butterfly but idk it didn't bother me.

I’ll revisit Eupnea again soon to (hopefully) correct my lack of enthusiasm for it
|

Cheers bgill, yeah both albums are very similar to me, so I'd bet if you like you'll like the other, but Johnny already proved me wrong so I don't know anymore lol
|

Oh shit this is featured and the band shared the rev on facebook, time to fix those grammar mistakes (Thanks Jespinator!)
|

This is good stuff - surprised I'd never heard of them before. Just the right mix of...well, a lot of things. A little Steven Wilson. A bit of Silverchair?
Great review btw.

Thanks!
If u have the time be sure to give their old albums a check too, especially the Dark Third and Amor Vincit Omnia. You will hear the two extremes of this band (prog rock one hand/electronic alt rock on the other) in its best expression.

Album should be called bukake bear
|

I'm sure the band will like your comment conesmoke lol

Happens occasionally here, for sure. The Dark Third is almost (or actually) perfect in that regard, if you haven't heard it.

dark third is a flawless, goddamn masterpiece
"Album should be called bukake bear" watched Jon Courtney giving this explanation about how the artwork symbolizes the iceberg melting around the polar bear and how he accepts it and adapts symbolizing the struggles of the modern world and th....
but no, yeah, cone your interpretation makes more sense.

Nice review Dewi! I feel like I've promised to check this band before and forget. Will traipse back to the alleged classic mentioned above before hitting this

I think it is a worse version of Eupnea, but the drumming is so good
|
| |
Do it Milo, they are great albums!
@lunatic felt exactly the same at first, that it was cut content from Eupnea, but give it a chance, it's a grower

oh I think I clicked on PRR things when I realized they were very fun to jam along on drums. this disc is much more complex than both Eupnea and the Dark Third in that spot

Love this but why in the world did they not add another verse and a couple more choruses to Our Prism? It’s not like the existing structure wouldn’t accommodate that and it feels like the song just gets cut so short. It genuinely feels like it could be one of their best tracks if extended. Thoughts?

Excellent review! Haven't heard these guys until now, but I'm three tracks in and it sounds great.
