Nice bump! My obsessive listening of this was somewhat interrupted by the Ethel Cain album but it's definitely staying in rotation along with Lenderman's other albums. The self-titled isn't as easily listenable as this due to the length but it's slowly revealing itself to me as a real beaut too. "Basketball #1" is a really special song. The Knockin' EP is also excellent.

It seems every major release he's done so far is in a slightly different style albeit within a relatively consistent sonic universe so I agree with Doof that he should be an interesting artist to watch progress going forward! And I still need to dig into Wednesday and a couple of the other solo releases.

Perhaps mine too since I didn’t discover Ghost until this year and I first got into Ethel Cain last year.

"The Knockin' EP is also excellent."

So good (even if 2/5 songs are found here too). "happiness" and "tv dinners" are up there with his best songs.

I still have to get on Wednesday/Twin Plagues but I hope to soon!

This actually built a lot of steam on RYM and hit the charts there before the Pitchfork review (their track review of “Tastes Just Like It Costs” dropped before that but I don’t think that brought too many to the full album) but that certainly helped. Half the reason I pumped this review out when I did was to get the hipster cred for having already been on it before their reviews. ;-P

And yeah, the self-titled is also really wonderful. I think his songwriting has improved since then but the jammy guitar work there is lovely. Might pull together a quick review for that one and Ghost of Your Guitar Solo too.

this was good stuff, pitchfork was able to recommend a good new artist for me for the first time in ages (and it seems others feel the same, hah)

Dan Marino kinda sucks but it also kinda intentionally sucks. It’s grown on me, I like it a lot and the lyrics are sneakily good too, it’s a neat little vignette.

Just snagged tix to see this guy in November (as the opener for Plains, new duo of Waxahatchee and Jess Williamson).

Hah, this won't be the first time I've gone to a show primarily for the opener (the Plains project seems neat though, their singles sound like solid alt-country so I will check the album when it drops) but I pretty much always show up before the opener, like to get my money's worth and seen plenty of shows where the opener impressed more than the main act.
