Honestly surprised there's so much love for The Lightning.

I think it makes less sense in the context of the album than it did as a single and comes across as the most desperate pair on here. It gives off big Pick Me energy

Slex 😂

The ‘dip dip do-doo’ wordless skit I’ll admit has irritation potential - I guess the track sounds like the epitome of ‘wholesome hipster indie’

My least favourites are the last two tracks now, trash tier

I thought the last track was ‘okay’ until the ‘Cattails’ comparison was made but now I think it’s complete trash considering it builds a track with less than half the charm from almost identical ingredients

It’s such a shame to see an once amazing band go up in flames, it’s hard to believe this is the same band that released Funeral The Suburbs and Neon Bible and most of the Reflektor was definitely great. This just sounds like a band trying to hard to recreate those glorious moments losing themselves in all that made them great in the first place, . WE’s lyrics are just down right awful.

There are a few slivers of greatness on WE but ultimately not enough to save this dumpster fire of an album. Everything thing Now is in ruins for AF I gave this 3 but it was very difficult to give

Yeah, I really don't get what they were doin with the last track at all, let alone having it be the title track

end of empire iv is kind of hilarious. this album seems pretty solid overall, and the lightning is the best thing they've done in a while

"WE won't stand for this." writes Sowing in a scathing first impression.

I haven't listened to either of the big indie rock albums yet but there wasn't much in the way of new releases for me this week yet. Maybe I'll discover something new with a bit of luck. I did thoroughly enjoy the new songs from Mike and Nate Kinsella, though.

This is somehow both worse and better than Everything Now. Which is both impressive and not saying much. Filing them into Legacy Band until they can prove otherwise
