If you give edm the credit it doesn’t deserve of being a blanket term for any electronic genres that people dance to then sure but that’s not really what edm is. Edm is nothing but a buzzword for the lowest common denominator of watered down braindead festival core electronic.

anyway what pots meant is that for quite a period EDM used to refer to a kind of ... not quite this, not quite that extremely streamlined dance music that was really popular irl and on youtube for some reason
kinda like how metal had/has bands like chimaira and modern machine head that straddle the line between butt thrash, butt melodeath and killswith buttgauge
