Maybe you could create a new track listing that would change my mind Sow. After revisiting, this is just as disjointed as I remember. It seriously sounds like a mixtape with random tracks thrown in half hazardly. Seems like Prince Daddy was working through a lot of stuff and it all came out for better or worse here. A more thematically coherent album rooted in those melancholic Beach boy harmonies would probably get a five for me.
Curly Q had me dreaming of an album along the lines of Superdrag - Headtrip In Every Key - but no such luck.

Finally gave this a spin after putting it off forever. It is... fine. I don't love it nearly as much as their earlier stuff but it's solid and it is growing on me

Alright yeah this is growing on me even faster.
El Dorado, JFC, and Shoelaces are the standouts. Curly Q too

Chatted with this roughly 50 year old man at a Microwave / Oso Oso show for awhile last night. Came to find out he’s a huge pop-punk / Emo fan that some people refer to as “emo dad” and he insisted I check these guys out. Just listened to Black Mold and really digging it.

Think I might have found a new band to obsess over. I am loving this and excited to continue jamming their discog. Finishing this off and listened to Adult summer ep on the train this morning. So damn good.
Getting Sorority Noise, Modern Baseball, Pup, Hot Mulligan and Mom. Jeans vibes on this and I dig all of them. They just have that emo, cathartic sound I have always loved. Specifically excited to be getting some SN and Mobo feelings listening to this since I miss those guys so much.
Might be hearing a little Weezer in this too? lol

These guys really are a fantastic time and pull together those influences well. Their songs are impeccably well-written and there are just so many earworms. Can't tell you the amount of times I've heard a riff from them thinking "surely someone must have done this before". I definitely think there's some early Weezer influence here.
This album specifically was a big step forward for them and while I don't think they've made a classic yet, I think they are well on their way.
