Yea Im seeing ETID comparisons in terms of quality and I'm just here thinking this couldnt even come close to them. Maybe Empty Black, but not this.

Yeah this is some of the best guitar work I’ve heard in recent memory. Technical without being a noodle shred fest, and some very unique/original riff and compositions. It’s a massive improvement from Empty Black

I personally think these guys nail the more melodic side of their sound way better than ETID did.
I love ETID but I don’t think they’re as technically talented as these guys either. Vocals, guitar work, etc. that said, ETID have a catalog that is uncomparable. I just think these last two Greyhaven albums have been just as good, if not better than ETID’s last two releases

Obviously this is just my opinion though. This sound isn’t for everyone

not hearing ETID in this at all but to each is own,
also the drums sound super over produced to me and kinda steps all over everything else going on
guitar riffs kick ass agreed

Tbh I don’t think they’re very similar, but I see a ton of people and reviews trying to compare the two bands. I think it’s a little unfair for people to throw this band in ETID’s shadow, that’s the only reason I even bother with a comparison

yea i think the etid comparisons are a bit overexaggerated stylistically (and imo qualitywise given id take like all but 2 etid albums over this but subjectivity and all that, plus empty black is about etid par)

I wouldn't say they sound just like ETID, but the inspirations are there. Like I said in my review though, they pull away from that and have created their own path instead of becoming a copycat.
Glad to see most of you all love this. I expected Jeet not to like it, but hey, can't get everyone.

Jeet, I think it's very much of the quality of ETID, but it also comes down to preference. Greyhaven is much closer to the -core side of things, and that's just something I prefer.

It’s probably just due to ETID retiring. People looking for their spiritual successor

I’d be interested to hear why some think Empty Black is far superior to this. Not even debating it, just out of curiosity

I need to check this one yet but yeah, empty black kills this

The ETID comparisons were there for Empty Black a bit, but always as an influence as opposed to direct comparisons to the entire sound.
Yeah, it boils down to them disbanding. There is a big hole in the Southern Metal genres, and it's near impossible not to think about in a post-ETID world. I think the big comparison is that they're a high quality band that could take that crown in the scene.

EB is just better in every way honestly lol. This has excellent parts but entire EB songs are just a cut above. EB as a whole got stuck in my head a lot more whereas this the softer stuff is the only thing that vocally sticks in my head (All Candy and Ornaments namely).
Also EB had a freshness to it to me. This sounds like other bands stuff all mashed up to make Greyhaven’s sound.
Both I love but EB def has a lil something extra

"I expected Jeet not to like it"
I dont dislike it. Its decent. The middle half of the album is good and the closers great but I'm not buying into the hype or the idea that anything off this is on par quality wise with ETID.

This is really damn good so far

Interesting. My first two playthrus with this album had me fascinated at how they’ve they improved so much. I think the instrumentation and vocals are starkly improved. I can’t really say much past that tho. I loved Empty Black more and more over time, so my jury is out on everything else

I think this is better than the last so far, and i very easily hear the similarity to ETID lol
