Yea Backpfeif is better than anything on here too. And I like Ectogenesis more than most of this too. And I'd rather listen to Private Visions than Gestaltzerfall. Fuuuck.
Still a good album but the colorful quality of the music is like completely gone now. Seems purposefully since everything about the art direction is dark. Red Miso and Micro Aggressions are awesome for me for sure though. Conflict and Monomyth are very solid too. The rest is either meh or too derivative of stuff they've already done

Completely agree on all counts. Conflict had some slight glimmers of s/t and got my hopes real high. And then it devolves into mundane djent around 2:15 and I was like boooooo
First 4 tracks are my favorite and the others are just fine.

"No matter how hard I try, I cannot seem to decipher exactly why earth's musical snobs hate Nickelback so much. Each member of the band is fairly decent at their respective instrument, and while their songs may not be original or game-changing, their ballads are adequate and they have quite a number of solid hard rock tunes under their belt. To be honest, I'm a bit of a musical snob myself; I find myself taking jabs at Black Veil Brides any chance I get. So another question I end up asking myself is this; "Why do I like Nickelback?" It's certainly not for their originality, or their lyrical content. I like Nickelback simply because I don't take them seriously. When I listen to Nickelback, I don't do it because I want to analyze and break down every lyric, tempo change and time signature (which I'm confident is always 4/4), I do it because I want to listen to some big, goofy, crunchy rock music." - user TooManyFriends

LMAO I know that Nickelback review is a decade old but this review makes so much sense in the context of it. I guess we know what AAL should have done to earn a 3.5. xD

Not as bad as I thought. Still can't get over that shitty vieo for the second song. Vibes are way off. However this album has some amazing moments amongst average ones. I love Conflict Cartography.

I remember in 2009 reviews like this would get blasted - glad to see the tides have changed.

The modern AAL experience. Great review!

Came outta retirement to say this album rips

Really well written, tho wish you built on your argument more. I can't talk though, this is longer than most of my write ups...

Both myopic and nobody else is capable of playing it, according to this ‘review’. Confidently incorrect.

haven’t listened to any instrumental prog in a while. i did highly enjoy TJoM during my time with the genre though; might give this a cursory listen to see what a pair of rose-colored glasses do for it.

bad review for an album that definitely sucks
|

why is everyone in the band trying to play drums on this album?
