Been getting insults in my shoutbox for dissing this album lmao, glad to see some people agree with me
A Wave is pretty moving yeah, doesn't touch his Modern Leper cover tho

Album sounds alot better blasted out of speakers than headphones, for sure, the mixing ain't ideal.

This album also continues his trend of having a sort of faux inspirational rock song lead single - Recovery, Get Better, and now Haven’t Been Doing So Well. He says he feels revitalized after making this and I can see why, but he definitely shows the same impulses with each album even if they are a little different sonically
Also wtf is Zeitbeast. Dumb song
|

I guess Zeitbeast is only on the deluxe version so I haven't heard it yet
there are cases where the deluxe version is better but it's definitely not the norm imo, haha

Ah ok I have only been listening to the deluxe so I didn’t realize that was a bonus

So much better than his last 2 releases and just the cheesy fun I expect outta him. Not sure I will return to this much but it is good for what it is.

@Sowing the Master on Tidal isn't great on the mixing front either, so I'm guessing it's the overall production as a whole.
I will never stop seeing Frank live when I can but despite this being a step up from the utter travesty that was Be More Kind, there's little here that makes me want to revisit the album when I could just relisten to England Keep My Bones or Love Ire and Song again for the hundredth or so time.

Oof so from just the comments on this page it seems like this is another FT album not worth bothering with? The guy should find some other projects imo as I don't think he has anything else to say anymore. EKMB and LI&S are absolute classics though.

Definitely worth a spin, it's a bop, but it's got absolutely nothing on his classics.

This sits only behind EKMB and LI&S for me!

"I don't think he has anything else to say anymore" [2]
The Gathering is the post-pandemic ballad that fans wanted and needed and I can see the crowds going wild at concerts during it (as intended). That said, idk how I feel about Frank's music anymore... it can be preachy, sappy, somehow over-blown while deflated at the same time.
Haven't Been Doing So Well, but just a few albums ago we were all shouting "WE CAN GET BETTER... 'CAUSE WE'RE NOT DEAD YET!!!" Album's catchy and sounds good, but it feels like going around in circles at this point.
I have LI&S, EKMB and TDH–and those might be the only Frank I'll ever need.

Very well said

wow "haven't been doing so well" is dreadful. the punk stuff is inoffensive though and makes this album better than anything else ive heard from him
