I heard Voidod for the first time 10 years ago live (I'm only 27) and thought it was really bad. Never gave them a chance again even though they were one of Quebec's most succesful metal band (I'm from Quebec). Decided to spin this record after the praise and man, it slaps !! I feel so stupid now...

Loving the new album. Since TE I've been so grateful Voivod acquired Daniel Mongrain. I don't think anyone else could have even come close to filling Piggy's shoes as he has.

The guitar solo on Planet Eaters is sex. Must be one of my favourite Mongrain solos together with the one in Spherical Perspective off the Wake.

The World Today, Planet Eaters, and Holographic Thinking are absolutely badass.
Had to bump my rating up a half point. Amazing album.

Riffing in Quest For Nothing is very reminiscent of Kluskap O'Kom on Target Earth.

first time i heard voivod was like 2008 or so, my dad gave me his cassette collection from the 80s/90s. ill admit i didnt get dimension hatross at first, i was like "how can you write a thrash album without any lyrics about thrashing?"
|
| |
Voivod was like the first thrash band I really got into cause I was like wow there’s thrash that isn’t boring as fuck?
Don’t worry I like a lot of thrash now lol, but I def gravitate towards the more weird progressive and technical stuff
