Yes xD
for a little while in 2016 I was obsessed with putting Osama beards on photos; mostly of friends, but the Thomas edit always stuck out as a favorite

Is this more interesting than Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga or Kill The Moonlight?

I wouldn’t say it’s “more interesting” than either of them. I think it’s less of an unconscious response to the spirit of the times, which arguably Gax5 was, and it’s less “sketchy” than Kill the Moonlight. It’s a fully realized rock album, prismatic and labored but rarely sounds manufactured. In short, it’s another outstanding album by one of America’s great mini-maximalist art rock bands. Honestly there’s no point in a second Sputnik review for this. At least not anytime soon.

Good review. I've never gotten into Spoon but I've always wanted to. I like Can a lot: and Spoon is named after their biggest hit song, but that's about as much as I know about Spoon.
Gonna try this out today: is this a good starting point?

Absolutely love these guys (and I listened to them casually for years before I could say that). Like Sowing said, insanely consistent band. I don't even know where this would fall in terms of the rest of their discography (my favorite changes all the time) but it's a super enjoyable listen. Spoon know what they're doing.
Oh, and great review!

Okay, interesting. The two albums I named are the ones I listened to and they just didn't grab me very much, but they didn't the thing they did quite well. I still wonder if any of their other albums might win me over, but didn't bother so far. But as far as I could see this album got glowing reception so far, so that's why I'm asking

I would try They Want My Soul

Honestly, I think the best starting point for Spoon is Transference. It’s disarmingly lo-fi and it takes a hot minute to realize how *deliberately* ramshackle it is: every little second is designed to pastiche and transcend the model—and every Spoon album announces itself a new model, a new sonic palette or method. Transference is the most arcane Spoon and so the best way to “get” them. Then I’d go for this. Then Hot Thoughts. Then go rambling

docsportello casually writing comments that would put 99% of soundoffs to shame.

Best starting point is Girls Can Tell or Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga, would definitely not lead with Transference
