Maybe. Or maybe I'm just getting old and grumpy. Having that said though, Sergi Verdeguer is an absolute genius behind the kit and remains their best member these days

I've personally always felt that they could capitalize on atmosphere far more than they've hinted at before, and they accomplish it here. I personally find the post-metal sections to have plenty of structure to them. Now, if their more proggy nature is upsetting, I get it, they aim for a cinematic scope and that can be seen as 'cheesy.' I think the patience they show demonstrates that there's no ill-faith involved in what they're creating, it's just a new vision that incorporates elements that may come across as overbearing if it's not what you want.
There's more cohesion here than meets the eye. I spent a lot of time already spinning this one and trying to get to know each track, and I really think they corrected the pitfalls of Spiritual Migration.
Glad we can at least agree Sergi pops off here. This is also what I'd consider the best bass showing they've had outside of maybe the OG Truth.

Yeah. When I really think about it I'm not a huge prog fan really. I appreciate progressive elements but when it becomes the main factor over a full album it gets tough. Spiritual Migration was messy and flawed too but still had its charm to it. I'm more of a melodeath guy which explains why I love their older material much more.

I still have it sitting at a 4.5, so I still love it a decent bit lol
Only thing this band ever did I disliked was that one-off single a few years back. Wasn't memorable at all.

Mars writes an encouraging review donning a very shiny 5 - okay I'm interested
Mars also mentions post-metal a couple of times - oh cool, I'm definitely interested
Kusangii says Opeth fanboys will eat it up because it's DEEEEEEEP - woooooo!
(warning, one of these points may be in jest)
I'm under strict obligation to check all Persefone releases anyway, they've earnt my attention

Never listened to these before this album and this thing blew me away on first listen. A Leap of Faith was particularly magical and took my breath away when it climaxed.
Good review mars.

I'm preferring Rolo a lot more as of now. Persefone let their love of Leprous seep in a lot on this album lol.

This has a bit of a thrown together feel to it while bits decide whether to tweedle, twinkle or beat down genre walls. hmmmm. The features seem left field, but contrastingly nice if smacking your thumb with a hammer felt nice.

I really don't think this band could ever be considered cohesive unless they basically announced every transition before they did it.
Album flows perfectly fine for me, songs are absolutely solid.
