^ Orange does this theme a lot better and the fact that it's so slow and drawn out helps a lot

"how? climate change is not abrupt in any sense of the word unless there's a different meaning there I'm missing. Not like it's a comet hitting the planet lol"

I don't understand this, esp. if you're going to praise Orange which is about the impact of climate change now (or, if we're gonna be literal about it, last May). Because climate change isn't a comet or a plane crash it doesn't make sense for a song to point out that at some point, if we carry on the way we are, it's going to be too late?

Actually, maybe I misunderstood you or implied that the impact of climate is abrupt. I agree the impact of climate change isn't abrupt, but I think a big theme of the album is about not learning from past mistakes and letting bad patterns (eg in the form of climate inaction) repeat themselves. And I think 11th Hour involves Evan projecting himself into a future where it's too late to break that pattern. The realisation that it's too late, and the consequences of it being too late, are what's abrupt, not the impact of climate change. (It doesn't even have to be climate change -- I think Evan relates it to other societal as well as personal issues. Climate change is just the biggest, most obvious one.)

Eh, either way, I still think the closer would be more powerful if it built into something a little bigger. 2 mins doesn’t do it justice

I dont like the closer really here, but I adore their 1-2 minute tracks spread across their discog Paterson & Leo, Angelina, Thanksgiving and Spiral to name the highlights

Gotta say some of these tracks have grown off me a little. The lack of cool guitar parts on this one is slightly disappointing. Habitat, Alaska, Iodine, Swimming are my mainstays
