Thanks Jesper! Seems like a bit of an odd pairing but both bands are awesome, sounds pretty neat...
A bit off topic, but this has been an incredible January for new releases. Looking back to last year, I'd say there are six albums from this month which I'd take over my favorite album from January 2021 (Tribulation). Just wild.

2022 is already much better than 2021, there I said it.

This year is gonna be awesome yeah. Not even into February and we have a handful of insane releases within the next couple months.

I thought 2021 was an incredible musical year overall, but it really caught fire only in the summer/fall. We'll see how 2022 compares, but a very strong start.
Obvious caveat that it's all arbitrary, but still interesting.

oh yeah january has been insane.. and usually it's the worst music month of the year (except for maybe december), so if this is a sign of things to come i have high hopes

No point in comparing The Great Dismal with this, both very different vibes if you ask me. Got this one waiting for me in the post office, looking forward. First listens have been great

Yeah, this does not sound like Great Dismal lol. Enjoying it so far, t/t is particularly gorgeous
Nice review, although maybe overly cursive on the specifics of this record?

Cheers Johnny! Yeah, that's a valid critique, pretty happy with how this review turned out but the ratio of talking about the band as a whole vs. talking about this particular album's particulars seems a tad off.

i barely read reviews and agreed with u on this one. it paints a good picture of the context they exist in and explains why they are worth ur time in a way that invokes Curiosity

yeah, as an entry port to anyone who's never heard of this band before or checked them in any depth, this review is perf perf. i'm just craving the Scoop heh
t/t thru Dottie-back Thrush is really doing it for me atm, not sure the rest quite lives up to that but i'm here for it anyway

Yep, been a very strong start.
Checked this already, decent vibe / opinion pending.

Sick review. You nailed it, this band hasn't really clicked with me previously due to the meandering nature of some of the tracks. This album is much more to the point and I love it so far.

Love this album, really concise follow up to Time Well (which i still slightly prefer but w/e). First half of the record is incredible, slows down a bit but they really nail the atmospheric post rock shoegaze vibe. It’s a cool progression to see, Dottie def my fav

Dottie is sooooo good. Hard to pick a fav tho, not a single song here that didn't have a memorable moment.

Still only jammed once but I will say I missed the slowcore aspects which seem toned down much more in this one.

I’d like to hear this + slowcore, I think

time well didn't have much slowcore
they sounded like fuzzy neurosis on that one
unless you're comparing to the debut, which I haven't heard

further out is their most slowcore LP to me
anyone lookin for new slowcore / gaze should def check the new grivo

Really? The whole second half of that reads as slowcore for me as much as it does shoegaze.
further out is their most slowcore LP to me
oh that’s interesting, haven’t heard that one.

they had an album release show last night and they played Dream Warden off of one of their EPs and matt talbot (from Hum) did vocals
always wild to me that they have a song with him on vocals. basically a Hum song
