Hanging Out is like a super friendly take on BT1, worst thing is that I don't even hate it

"they need to go back to pezz"
Dude yes how cool would it be to rerecord and tweak Watoosh?
Also be thankful they had the decency of keeping Judged and DJ in different albums to dilute the trauma lmao

Damn this makes me sad.

I didn't want it to be true but this review is absolutely spot on. What a disappointment.

The Wolf and For You forgettable, while Judged is almost painful.
But I genuinely like, if not love the rest of the album.
The experimental inclusions like Forgiveness, Hanging Out With all The Wrong People, and End of Me stand out, and make me wish the entire album ventured into new and weird territory like that.
Reactor seems to have been underappreciated! That might be the best song on the album.

There do seem to be a clash between the 2'ers and 3'ers, looking at that m/ rating chart. Guess it comes down to how frustrating you find the worst songs on here, and how much they take away from the best ones.
The opening 2 tracks are easy 4s, the rest are meeeeeeh.

Seems like a 2.5... nothing hits me like offensive bad, just bland. First 2 tracks are good tho

I agree with you Noodle, I can mostly enjoy this record. Weak in places sure but it's still fine because they play well. I can't get End of Me out of my head, the drum shuffle is total ear candy and fits super well with the catchy instruments/vocals

Wow this really does look like a thrash album lol

Reckless Parade and I Beg to Differ are really great songs in all their cheesy directness but I can't help but love them. really want to like this album when I eventually listen to the rest of it.

Here they have a new album, and I haven't even listened to the previous one yet. And I've had it since launch, I bought it at a gig on the tour for it.
EDIT: Just gave it a listen and yeahhhhh...not impressed. It has some fun songs (This Will Get Better) and I really like The Wolf as well, but there is a distinct whiff of III about the whole thing (which, let's not forget, had a couple of fun songs in its own right.) The enthusiasm kind of stops being there about halfway through, and they seem all too happy to remain in their semi-ballad comfort zone wheelhouse (the one attempt to inject some speed into the whole thing is also the most hackneyed and forced-sounding of the lot.)
Plus, wasting TWO TRACKS worth of real-estate on a ten-song album with what amounts to punk-pop Revolution #9 is, well, unforgivable.
I'll give it a few more spins, of course, and even now it's not III-bad. But it IS III-bland. Probably their blandest since that one, in fact.

'Can't say I'm surprised, but still sad to see this sucks. Their debut is a near classic and every album after kept getting slightly worse.'
Say what about 'II'?
