i think if i were to criticise anything i'd say they aren't the best riff writers in the game but it's a very well constructed record
|
| |
Huh this is ok
|
| |
They should put out a straight up dungeon synth album at some point too.

The ambience in this is so great

Toss in some Summoning influences here and there, and they'd absolutely nail it, next time around.

Great opener

And the rest is quite solid. The two cornerstones I can hear are Storm of the Lights Bane and Anthems to the Welkin At Dusk

i think it could be colder and that rhythm guitar a bit punchier, on first serious listen.

Band sounds pretty good but yeah... not very fresh sounding. First half is solid though and kinda drags after a while I think

there's nothing original about this at all, and it totally rips

Reminds of Hyperion - Seraphical Euphony that way. That was also total 90's fellatio.
|

Fellatio is still as good as it was 30 years ago. ;-)

Yup, it's all good.

i was gonna suggest anyone into this should absolutely check that record out. it's a lot better. not to demean this - it's great - but if you want something like this with incredible riffs and clearer production, that's the album you should listen to. vallendusk's fortress of primal grace has a lot of nods to 90's bands too.

Glad you're digging @TheNotrap!
That Hyperion rec is spot on, haven't spun that album in a while but it rules hard.

I don't think this is anything like that Hyperion record

Been a while since I listened to that album, but from what I recall it has a different sound but occupies a similar space of 90s-derived bm on the melodic side, so I at least see the comparison
