You touched us all. It made us feel sad but also compassionate. Full of love.

The takeaway here is that whatever happens in your life, and bad things will happen cause life's a bitch, you can build from there and start anew. That's what she did with this album and it's a wonderful reminder.

Citadel is gorgeous.

I easily prefer this one to Dark Horses, which for some reason didn't do much for me. Will reevaluate it now, in light of this one.

"Wow, I've never heard someone complain about the sound of fretting and sliding."

I guess it's sacrilege for some reason.

I heard dark horse yesterday and it's gorgeous. Easily better than this. Only one of her albums now I haven't heard is the debut

Nice! Debut is super cool too, worth a listen.

I'm enjoying Dark Horses more than I remember. Good developments! More love in the world! Etc.!

I can confirm I was also touched, where's our support group? Seriously though, this is a brilliant review Dew.

I'd only heard Emma's debut (which I enjoyed) but this seems pretty good so far. I should probably fill in the gaps at some point.

Her second is my fave, easily. Oh man.

I have now come to the realisation that none of them are below 4.0.

3 perfect albums in a row (4 if you include the Thou collab), Emma is absolutely the best female singer / songwriter out there these days

just spectacular talent, able to evoke such a raw set of emotions.

One solid contender for my personal aoty, incredible album the only bad thing about it is that I have to be in a kinda specific mood to listen to it but I love it, prolly my second favorite from her, is so deep and personal.

Edit: Really good review, like the album, kinda dark and personal, hope you are ok nowadays mate, internet hug for Emma and you ;)

This is the kind of record that, depending on the listener's mood, can be extremely boring or a very touching and cathartic experience. It's like someone telling you secrets you're not sure you're supposed to know.

I definitely need to be in a different headspace to properly evaluate this, but between listening to the new Mastodon a lot, and reacquainting myself with the last Gaerea and Obsidian Kingdom albums (cuz I'm seeing both this Saturday), but for now I'm not terribly impressed.

Not huge on her previous works but this one hits me good after losing my brother back in Feb. Some nice melancholy stuff to make me feel again
