>Maybe a 4.0 for them but def a 4.5 in the galaxy of releases imo

True enough. There are some monster tracks here.

lol they are good, but they've been making the same album pretty much since the Frail Tide. I'm a fan, but consistent is pretty accurate

Eh compare this to Vessels, they are pretty different albums. But maybe not everyone can hear that.

I've been listening to them since their debut and enjoyed Vessels a lot. I listened to the 3 songs they've shared on Bandcamp. It's pretty much the same as they've been doing. There are some fresh moments, but it sounds like a Be'lakor album. "Foothold" mixed it up a little bit about halfway though but as I said they've only shared 3 songs off this on BC so maybe the rest will change my mind.

This album is (finally) starting to hit its stride for me, but I think Vessels is still my firm favourite. Withering Strands is just a masterpiece. Never been so emotionally involved over the production of detritus.

NeO are still amongst the highest echelons of prog metal for me imo. They paint such a wonderful image of ethereal beauty that is just friggin sick.

They might still be just a small step below Be'lakor for me however

This is a grower and could end up being a 5. Valence is sinking in nicely

Yeah Valence was a bit of a grower. Hidden Window as well. For as much as I enjoyed it upon its release I feel it took some time for me to appreciate its whole meandering yet composed structure.

"Ne Obliviscaris > Persefone > Be'lakor"

Who said that? Because I think he/she got the order in reverse

Idk for me Ne Ob are just frustrating. They have some of the most beautiful, inspired moments, but the clean vocals, bloating and breaks that throw away momentum sadden me. I find myself being bored one minute and amazed at them the next.
