also i think this one is overall pretty good but not necessarily any better than the last two. more thematically and tonally consistent but kinda bland as a result, a lot of very similar tracks with the same chord progressions and a bit too restrained imo
i think the production is occasionally a bit better for the heavier moments, there is the odd riff on here that sounds like remission which is cool

holy shit did pika just say the czar is boring? one of the best mastodon songs for me, brents vocals in the bridge are like top 3 mastodon moments imo, cts is very consistent, btw go back and listen to it, it's thematic, and a lot of the riffs are consistent throughout with bluesy guitar going on in the solos and great memorable songwriting.

I'm pretty sure they were stoned during most points of the recording process. In the DVD from The Hunter they looked stoned most of the time lol. And stoners tend to feel time is eternal... so haha! Anyway this didn't actually felt that long.
