I'm hoping this will grow on me. New First Fragment hit me immediately though. They couldn't even let Archspire be the most tech album of the year for a day..

This is just pure fun. I'm really not big on tech death but the way these guys deliver it, on this album in particular, really works for me. Easily one of my favorite releases of the year and I'm still in the process of digesting a lot of these tracks.

All the singles, A.U.M because it's just so silly that I had to repeat it a few times before starting my second run-though, the rest I'm still absorbing and memorizing moments for. I'm about 4 rotations in so I've got a good enough feel for all the tracks to say that there's not one second of filler here, I'm just trying to get all the details at this point.

New FF confirmed my previous thoughts, they are simply a step behind Archspire in songwriting originality. I always say this but for me they sound like Gorod on speed. They are superb musicians but I've heard what they do before (true, slower most times lol). Also the album is too long for its own sake. This type of music should not last more than 45 min per LP. After that the mind just disconnects, too much to process. Still a great album though but Archspire's is my TechDeath of the year for sure. New FF is better than their debut though. I give it a 4.

Gorod on speed is a good take on FF, songwriting-wise I'm not too impressed by their latest so I'm looking forward to hearing this baby.

How the actual fuck did they just top themselves after Relentless Mutation? Did they really need to put out the best TWO tech death records of the past 10 years? Save some talent for the rest of us guys.

Jesus this fucking drummer. Never heard this band before and just spent the first 10 mins of this album laughing over how much the drumming took me by surprise.

Man, I love being proved wrong. I went into this thinking I wasn’t going to care for this much but this blows their last album out of the water

There seems to be humor in this record. And tasty pinches. Two tracks in and I like the songwriting more than new FF

Songwriting is much cleaner and more accessible imo. Last album grew on me during recent listens, but this is an entirely different league for me.
