Sigh... People bashing BTD again...
Guys, you need to understand something: If you don't "get" BTD, both its musical worth and its cultural significance for its respective period, then you really have no business discussing LDR at all.
idk what age ranges you fall into, but please listen to someone who was in his mature years back then when BTD happened:
That album's singles' releases were a fucking CULTURAL RESET that changed the world, the same way that art from other spheres did at the time. (i.e. Game of Thrones)
LDR's emergence out of nowhere was so impactful and transformative that a part of me wishes it could go back 10 years just so that it can hear songs like You Can Be the Boss (which, curiously never made it to any album...), Blue Jeans, Off to the Races, Million Dollar Man, etc. for the first time and be totally blown out of my shoes by them...
I was knee-deep in misery and suffering during that now-distant end to my first quarter-life on this earth, but then Lana appeared, and she revived not only me, but also the pathetic and dreary state that the world was in at that specific point in time.
Sheesh... Born to Die for life! Or...DEATH !!! >=D

Also a post-scriptum to my tirade:
"Cola" off Paradise is eternal.
In the context of LDR's discography, it simply serves as a convenient closure to the BTD era.
But in the overall context of music and the industry, it's a fucking turning point in world history.
BIG FUCKING DOT.

violets for roses is pretty ass but the amount of god tier lana songs on this is wild. the first six tracks, dealer, thunder, cherry blossom.........

Is that pasta?
I think Lana is more so an idiot who has lived in a bubble her whole life and afforded to basically chase and live whatever aesthetics she wants to and while that has most leaned towards tradwives and being "glamorous" as she so painfully expressed in that letter to the culture, I don't get the impression she's republican at all. Hell, NFR literally starts with a Trump diss lol Fantano's point about conservatives making art is straight facts. Kanye is probably the most interesting artist out there who is openly right-ish-maybe? but even he is kind of like a political Rorschach at this point.
