Sounds like more Biffy to me, but the good kind of Biffy! It's like a more progressive 'Balance, Not Symmetry', which is another great overlooked album. I was hoping for more surprises in this though. It's mainly Biffy being Biffy, and that's fine.

When I reviewed this I was torn between a 4 and a 4.5. I'm glad I went with the latter because this only continues to grow. The lyrics are really great across the board.

"fair I guess, I don't listen to many other scottish bands to compare him to"
If you really love Biffy, I can't recommend enough Twin Atlantic's "Free" album.

It’s aggressively okay, gonna check again because a couple of these cuts might have potential.

First 3 songs here are pretty much unstoppable. 6 of the first 7, for that matter.

something about the snyths and the way he sings in the chorus really don't agree with me...like it's a good song still, just the first moment where I notice the momentum slowing down after that killer opening trifecta

its definitely bringing the momentum down a bit, but thats what you do on an album, you sequence an ebb and flow.

I just wanted the bangers to keep coming I guess.
In terms of bringing the momentum down, I'm much more a fan of Holy Water. The only argument to be had about that song is if it's great or incredible ;-)

Witch's Cup/Holy Water/Errors in the History of God is the best 3 song streak of the year, closely surpassing Long Lost/Twenty Long Years/Drops in the Lake from Lord Huron, but Sowing will disagree with me I am sure

I don't necessarily disagree. That stretch is amazing. I don't know if I could pick between that or the trio of Lord Huron songs though, and I'm also not sure that there isn't an even better trifecta somewhere else in 2021. I'm too lazy to look at my 4.5's and 5's from this year and recall the tracklists though, lol.

3 albums in less than 3 years was pretty impressive. I think Balance, Not Symmetry is my favorite of the three. This is an easy second.
