I'm sure there's a parallel that can be drawn to the quality of the album itself, but I'm sure as hell not gonna listen to a Drake album to find out.

I heard he spent a fortune on the album art. Imagine paying any money whatsoever for 'art' that trash

Album art is the only thing I don't hate about this. Definitely won't age well though.

""Honestly, I think this is kind of genius," he says. "At once simple, and yet complex, this whole thing has been thought-provoking."

"Ultimately definitions of what's 'good' or 'bad' don't inherently matter and tend to shift over time," says Toronto-based artist Tessar Lo. "The fact that anybody has access to these emojis also wittingly encourages the appropriation of the appropriation, which then becomes viral. It's a brilliant troll.""

Sounds like an overly roundabout way to make excuses for the cover tbh

Should I look at the cover for Red Pill Blues by Maroon 5 and write a thesis on how it's a parody of modern social media and cynical commercialism? No, sometimes laziness on an album cover just needs to be called out

Yeah that sounds like some nonsense to me. There are good reasons to make hideously bad/ugly album art. When the Strokes made an ironic cover for their album Comedown Machine with the giant RCA lettering, it was hilariously tongue-in-cheek, but this is just fking stupid.

If these eggheads are trying to give Drake credit for virality/memeability, they would do well to remember both Drake's long and illustrious history of zero-effort memeing and his general omnipresence in culture at large

If they're trying to give Drake credit for somehow being subversive then maybe whatever the fuck they think this lazy-ass album art is subverting should be left well enough alone
