'The Parchment' is such a tune though. the build up at the end is incredible.
'death of the celts' is literally the only tune i dont like. the main guitar part sounds like a cheesy superhero tune to a saturday morning kids cartoon haha

"If you want a real hot take, then The X Factor was the last innovative Maiden album."
not really all that hot of a take tbh. as ive said in the review, anything post 00s with bruce is a refinement on what worked for them in the past.
peeps might not like bailey's works, but you cant deny they arent different lol

I mean I love the X factor but they’ve been innovative since. Prog Maiden have come up with some stunning works

the prog thing isnt exactly anything new though; they've always had long, spacey jams in their albums
|
| |
I despise those 2 albums with Bailey, deeply lol

Insta 4 because Maiden, and go from there......i'm only on the opening track, but love how it has its own vibe compared to the rest of their discography
|

They had long prog tunes, the problem is that before they could create smth consistently thematical and moody like Rime of the Ancient Mariner or Seventh Son's t/t and now we have a song about celts on an album with a samurai on the cover, if you know what I mean.

Yes gonz but I’ll clarify the reunion albums BNW onwards def explored song craft not found in 80’s & 90’s. My take anyway

Okay I definitely prefer this to BoS. Really stoked to see how this grows on me.
Death of the Celts, man...

They were released on a time I was helplessly pissed about Bruce going solo and it's a trauma I have never got over, did a discog run not long and skipped most of it

Def worth a spin. I wasn’t happy about a new singer either att but it has such a great sound and good songs

81 minutes.. damn that's a big boy. Diving in now

I like some of the songs, I just hate Blaze Bailey, knew him from Wolfsbane, always thought he was a terrible option. At that point just call the man Di'Anno and make it real.

Problem is, Di'Anno is a total wanker

Yeah I know, I was just being wishful at the time.
Going for my second run of this, t/t is such a weird opener, might have worked better as a closer.

The production on this sounds really all over the place. Death of the Celts sounds quite fantastic but some of the songs on disc one sound awful even if the songs themselves are good.
|

Yeah I think Shirley didn't really got it right with Bruce's vocals.
And they abused the same keyboard sound in every track, can't unhear it, it haunts me.
