"I find it so interesting that the people who hate this find it far worse than Pitfalls even though it resembles past work far more. Oh, well."
Shows you how carefully people jot down their hate on the internetz these days. there should be a tax for stupidity

I'd be disappointed if this album was not different from the rest of their catalogue as I enjoy the fact all of their albums have been different so far.

spinning this for the first time as I type this, would be absolutely thrilled if I can slap a 4 on this bitch

You'd think people would be praising this album even more than Pitfalls as a return to form. This potentially has as a good handful of the band's best songs also

I enjoyed Pitfalls a lot though I may be in the minority here.

I loved Pitfalls when it first came out, it kinda grew off me a bit but it's still a great fucking album.

My favorite albums from them are Bilateral and the congregation, but I would be pissed if they kept remaking those ones. I like a change of style as long as it is inspired. Even if they turn pop, you don't hear many bands doing pop at this level... so I see no issue

Pitfalls was the one that got me into them, but unfortunately Bilateral is the only other one that I will return to constantly. The Congregation and Malina are just missing that emotional core for me (with the exception of "The Last Milestone").
Also, Einar telling off one of their fans who cheered when they announced "The Last Milestone" at their livestream was one of the heaviest things I've ever seen live. Esp. given the story behind that song.

Pitfalls is a great album it also got me into the band, I remember being skeptical about modern prog becuase most of it is wankery-prog or boring djent-jerk but they proved me wrong, good feeling in the music and even when they use some djentiness sound it doesn't cringe the hell out of me, contrary to other bands.
"I enjoyed Pitfalls a lot though I may be in the minority here."
Nah you're not, the minority is the ones that don't like it actually, if you look at the scores.

it's also nice to hear Einar using his harsh vocals again, even if it was just for one song

Dang Toon, you got me hyped. I think I'm gonna purchase a ticket to the livestream recording tonight for my first listen.

I watched it last wednesday, it was cool, Einar explained what was behind of every song and all that, actually the last song was made with the fans.
On hold is insane, how it grows, I love it.

Absolutely agree, on hold is the best song here and one of their best songs in general imo. So fucking emotional

Running Low, On Hold, and Have You Ever? are my highlights.
The Silent Revolution is the only track I didn't really love. Would've given the review a 5 if that was removed.

I’m afraid by the next album I won’t be a huge fan of this band anymore. Kinda getting tired of Einar’s upper registers and falsettos. They had the perfect sound on Bilateral and Coal.
