I’d be hard pressed to call any song here less than excellent so I’m slapping’ a 4.5 on this mofo

@Colton, that's a critique I wasn't expecting but fair enough. Personally, I think he'pulls off that repeated line well, and generally the lyrics here are top-notch, but can understand where you're coming from.

Faithful’s a nice word in Sunday school class, but life’s just too crazy for that

It’s probably my second favorite (that I’ve heard) after Complicated Game, Doof, so that’s not too wild.

Think I prefer this being a little more rocking than ‘Complicated Game’ but not too blues rock like some of his mid career albums

I’m so happy with this album. The songwriting is top-notch and the band is really on fire too. Honestly idk what Colton’s talking about because every song is pretty perfectly paced and there are lots of really tasty small details to keep things interesting throughout. Every song has a pretty distinct feel to it too, obviously nothing crazy original but that’s not the point of this kind of music. Pretty easily my AOTY as of now. Not that there was much competition for that title so far.

Your bags are all packed, you're not coming back that's for certain

And the landlady won't like the stains on the rugs and the curtains

Well, that's just wear and tear such as happens in life

But folks around here live to gossip and gripe

So I won't tell a soul

What they'll never know'll never hurt 'em…

Blackberry Winter is truly amazing, loved it from the first listen but it's growing hard every time I hear it

“Jackie” slightly tops that one as my favorite but both are 5/5 songs.

Yeah, my top three songs here have remained consistent so far (Canola Fields, Jackie, and Blackberry Winter) and all three are song of the year contenders
