This honestly ain’t half bad, it’s perfectly listenable, but also nothing special whatsoever. That said it’s hook-y enough that I can remember each song decently well and some have gotten stuck in my head the last few days. Will probably land at a 3 for me. It definitely seems he won’t ever reach his 2005-2012 peak again.

@TheBoneyKing - Do you think it might just be a transition towards a blend that doesn't suit you quite as much? I think his last two records have been his strongest since Continuum.

Yeah, the last record is surprisingly decent. Might be a tad underrated

It certainly is partly a stylistic thing; but also I find the songwriting on this and the previous album much less engaging and emotional than something Continuum or Born & Raised.

Album is fantastic.
Sure, it's not very deep or inspirational, but fuck me it's fun and full of hooks.

Actually, John Mayer's voice is relatively deep and his guitar skill is highly inspirational

yeah this put me to sleep, liked his last album better
|

him using rage comic lyrics is supremely lame.
|

"I can only picture 2012 era rage comics when I hear Why You No Love Me"
Thank god I'm not the only one. This album is exactly what it set out to be; pleasant and very self aware

The nasal delivery of that line is gross, too. Of all the times to stop singing with such a breathy voice, why on an "eeeee" ugh
