Extremely enamored with this. Already loved visions of a life but this is even more consistent. Smile and Lipstick on the Glass are kind of really incredible.

Agreed that this is more consistent, and glad to see someone else praising Smile - I think that's the 2nd best song here. This feels to me like one of those classic 90s rock albums, but with an updated aesthetic/production sheen. Only a couple minor clunkers, but otherwise this feels like an album chock-full of huge hits.

I do like the chorus of Smile, just wish they’d fix the verses lol ;)

Different strokes I guess, haha. I think that Smile finally gets her punkish side exactly right.

I still love you. At least we can agree that How Can I Make it Ok is a lovely tune! I just want them to make an album that goes all in on the more dream pop-ish sound of tracks like that and Heavenward. It’s frustrating because there are songs by them I’m completely sold on but they’ve yet to make an album I can fully get behind

It's understandable, but my hope for a future album is that they continue to blend styles until they've perfected dream-punk. That's something I think I'd insta-5, haha. A whole album of Smile's and Delicious Things' would be my dream. They're not far off that mark here honestly, hence my high rating.

this really is something

decent album, really like "how can i make it ok?" so at least I'm leaving with a tune

Smile verses are obnoxious in spite of that the song still kind of works

What's wrong with the verses?

'and some even took it a step further by criticizing the line “I wanna fuck all the people I meet”, as if Ellie Roswell should be predisposed to writing well-behaved lyrics'
not really the problem most people had with that lyric is it? the problem they had is it tacky and the delivery is cringe inducing in what was an awful and pretty juvenile song

Am I a bitch to not like you anymore?
Punch me in my face, I wouldn't even fight you no more
'Cause you bore me
You bore me to death, well deplore me
No, I don't give a shit
I wanna fuck all the people I meet
Fuck all my friends and all the people in the street
'Cause you bore me
You bore me to death, well deplore me
Well, I don't give a shit (shit, shit, shit)
I don't wanna be cruel, but you're really grinding
I'm not a fool but I have a rage and it's blinding
I feel it coming, is it exciting?
I feel it coming, yeah I'm unwinding
You bore me
You bore me to death, well deplore me
No, I don't give a shit
You bore me
You bore me to death, well deplore me
No, I don't give a shit
You bore me to death
No, I don't give a shit
Yeah I have feelings, 'cause I'm a human
A totally self-destructive, constantly consuming
And now I'm fucked, and that fucks you too
So fuck the world, and you, and you and you and
You bore me
You bore me to death, well deplore me
No, I don't give a shit
You bore me
You bore me to death, well deplore me
No, I don't give a shit
You bore me to death
No, I don't give a shit
You bore me to death
No, I don't give a shit

Most people just didn't like the song but a few knuckleheads took issue with her saying she wants to fuck everyone
But my question was what's wrong with the verses on Smile (my question was directed towards what's wrong with it musically, although lyrical criticisms would also be fair)

smile is prob one of my favourites here, that wonderfully airy chorus complements the more abrasive verses v neatly imo. it works rly nicely paired with lipstick on the glass as well

Nice Jesper, wholesome take there on Smile
Agreed Atari, that one didn't grab me at first but it's a hell of a grower. Perfectly placed in the album too.
