Oooh I haven't done car listen in a while. That's a good idea nash. We got some country/range road/acreage roads near me that have next to no traffic where I could really blast some chunes this summer.

@thedoom It means crafting an emotional connection with your listener by communicating in a distinct and authentic character instead of just shoving in different elements for the sake of it/trying to sound like s.o else or fill in spaces. Feels like i've heard this exact same album ten times already. "These Black Claws" and "Stone Leader Falling Down" are a very good example of said things.

Any time someone says "I've heard this same album 10 times already" I'm always curious what those albums are because I think I would enjoy them very much.

Shiranui gets it! These Black Claws sounds like it was just thrown together. Let's put a rap verse here. Let's randomly go to a chorus here. Let's play the same shitty riff for most of it. Song written! Let's make it a single too!

Y'all acting like that rap portion is so shoehorned when it fits in pretty naturally honestly. His flow and tone match the track. Sure, the rapping is still jarring because "wtf rap on a VOLA album" but the extent to which it is jarring is getting super exaggerated. If it had been implemented poorly, I would've called it out, but it's a neat addition for what it's worth, and the only time the band really goes out of their comfort zone.

a similar structure is implemented in Head Mounted Sideways, except its the first verse instead of the second, but everyone's fine with the robot voice. They seem to switch up the verses a good bit, which is pretty cool.

"Head Mounted Sideways" is probably my favorite off of here. Love the more menacing tone. Robo voice on point.

@Shiranui Feel free to name some similar albums, but I think you are greatly exaggerating how generic this sounds, although I agree it can be a bit boring. Vola has a fairly unique sound though, especially in their first 2 albums.
Also, faulting Vola for a "lack of artistic expression" just seems like a completely meaningless form of criticism.

Nothing beats a good CD or two and a long drive. Cathartic feeling if you luck out and the highways are quiet.

Inside your fur is pretty chill but one of my favourites. Overall after 2 listens this album definitely their weakest but I still enjoy it, doesn't have a lot of cohesion for some reason, feels like a random bunch of bsides and singles
