This was a really good review, and I totally agree. This album really isn't that special. Their later work, particularly Animals, is so much better than this. This Message Edited On 07.28.06

I couldn't disagree more with this review, but it was well written. I'm sure a lot of effort went into this review. The vocals have always been something I loved about Floyd and a lot of what is described as jazzy in the review isn't really jazzy at all, which shows a bit of a lack of knowledge of music. That was one of the things about the review that I disliked. It felt like it lacked a bit of research at times. Not much is said at all about the 2nd half of the album. I don't really find any of it boring at all. I love this album and that's all there is to it. The reviewer has every right to dislike the album and I have every right to think he's a fucking idiot (no offense :p). I could listen to a Coltrane album a few times and say it's boring and poorly composed because it just didn't do anything for me and there's nothing wrong with that either. I have a feeling a lot of people on here would jump down my throat if I did that and it's no different then this review. People will always have their own opinions and you shouldn't really get offended by a person because he/she just doesn't like certain music, that person has every right to dislike it. The reviewer put in a good effort with this to express how he feels about it. I'm sure some time in the future I'll put up my review of DSOTM that will be probably the complete opposite of this one. Sorry if my post got off topic at anytime. It's a bit late at night. This Message Edited On 08.05.06

Yeah, saying really popular albums are only ok is really cool these days...

Money is seriously one of the worst songs I've ever heard. Everything about it is extremely boring and annoying at the same time.

...and the rest of the album?

I'll just say that I'm not a Pink Floyd fan at all.

Is this some kind of joke? This is one of the greatest albums of all time! You have to understand that this is not a just a CD with a bunch of songs. This is an album. The tracks are really just not meant to be listened to by themselves.
Well written review, but I think you've horribly misunderstood the entire point of this album.

I'm sure he understands the album (maybe more than you), if you believe in "getting" music (I don't). He just has a different opinion than you. This Message Edited On 10.28.07

Yes. I agree 100% with that. I can't listen to this album unless I know that i'm going to finish it.

God was working against you (whoever he/she even is. Roger Waters might even fit his description :P) because this is a seriously damn good album. Sure, The Wall beats it hands-down, but The Wall also beats nearly every album ever hands-down as well.
Still, it was a good review, despite the ridiculous score.

The Wall is pretty overrated. It's wonderful, but Waters' ego expanded much too far.

Oh, and Animals as well. And Wish You Were Here.
So yeah, I kinda agree that this is their worst release of the golden age, (sorry Syd, I respect you and all, but Waters is the mastermind of PF, even if you embody it) but this is the only one I can even consider rating below a 5. I had to, in the end, to show my love for the other 3 albums, but this is truly an epic, and I would say if you get this, then the other 3 (Animals was the last I got, I'm glad of it for whatever reason, probably my 2nd favourite of the 4 golden era albums) it would be a good move.

Damn Waters freaks!
Put it this way. Pink Floyd couldn't exist without all of their members. Hence why when Waters left, the band basically split. If it were any of the others, the same would have happened. This Message Edited On 07.28.08

ANY of the others? Or David Gilmour? I agree, all the members were important, but I'm not so sure if they would have split if, maybe, Rick Wright had left (after all, Waters pretty much fired him) but I do see your point. Nick Mason... Probably wouldn't be easy to keep going without him either. Yeah, I do see your point. This Message Edited On 07.29.08

What a joke of a review. Us and them, time, money, Brain damage/eclipse -- these are some of the best rock songs ever made.
Rock stations still play them constantly, because they still hold up so well after 35 years.
you obviously have some bias against pink floyd. But to not appreciate the greatness of this album is just sad.

Seems like you listened to this album for the first time briefly and wrote a shoddy review! Shame, for this album bears its fruits with deep, repeated listens.
