Yeah, this wasn't great again, sadly. It's like Hurley-Make Believe level; albums I didn't hate but didn't like either.

"Weezer churns out another unremarkable release, once again proving that their focus is on quantity instead of quality"
I'm just amused that this summary exists for an album that's only 31 minutes long. If there's an issue with "quantity over quality" and your album is only a half-hour long, you know you fucked up

It’s a new weezer album so yeah

In 2006 GD and FOB were killing it
Weezer just released Make Believe though

American Idiot destroys most Weezer tbh

do Weezer have anything that I would rate above a 3 (Pinkerton is a hard fking 2 and Raditude is probs like a 1.8 to 2.2 depending how how dumb I feel)?

American Idiot rules yeah. Definitely was a landmark punk release for a lot of people my age.

I didn't listen to American Idiot in full until a few years ago (I was extremely jaded by the overplay when it first came out), but it holds up incredibly well. Definitely deserved a lot of the acclaim it received back then

Green Day are just... so boring. at least Weezer are funny when they're bad

I think part of it for me at least was inexperience. I wasn't into much music, and what I did listen to was basically all classic rock that I'd heard 1k times each, so when I experienced AI it knocked me on my face.

"at least Weezer are funny when they're bad"
I think this is part of why I like them so much. Although I enjoy even their worst albums. I still sort of like Ratitude and even this has a handful of songs I will continue to play years from now.

For me it was Ghost by Devin Townsend. I was a really elitist prog/metal snob up until the summer of 2011, when I heard Ghost after watching Devin Townsend live. That album opened my mind up to so much music that I never considered before... I can't even count how many indie rock, alt-rock, new age, folk, hip hop, and punk bands I got into from that point onward. I stopped associating with a lot of my really close-minded friends from then on... don't get me wrong, I still love a bunch of prog music (as evidenced from my pie chart) but Ghost is what influenced me to expand my tastes in an unprecedented way
