Yeah, I'm sure it'll end up working out. Luckily I've only had this problem for a little less than two years, so I still see the light at the end of the tunnel. I'm just grateful I'm not in Alexi's position, where the drinking lasts for at least a decade and there's no chance for recovery. It sucks too, because he actually DID sober up eventually... it's just that it was too late and the previous years had caught up to him

@FabiusPictor202

what the actual fuck are you talking about my guy

Each individual person is in their own "base" reality.
Something that is interpreted as "major breaking news" for one, might be totally irrelevant and even invisible for someone else.

Mans just got out of a freshman philosophy seminar.

I follow the train of thought dude, though your statements have contradicted themselves. If your "individual" and "base" experience of Alexis' death stemmed from what is "totally irrelevant" and "invisible" then you wouldn't have complained several times that you missed it. Put more simply, by virtue of the complaint about your months late experience of the news of Alexis death you have shown that you wished Alexis death had been "major breaking news" for you and that it was actually a "relevant", rather than irrelevant, event, all of which validates the "reality" that you simply missed notice of Alexis death because you weren't paying attention, not because of the "multiverse theory" which is about as convoluted of an explanation for missing out on a piece of news as I can fathom.

Just get over the fact that you are four months late to Alexis death and leave the philosophy out of it lol

Just get over the fact that you are four months late to Alexis death and leave the philosophy out of it lol

when I was talking about "different realities and sheeeeiiiuuuhttt", I was referring to the news' media's limited coverage of the event, NOT my own personal learning of it.

Again, not through "philosophy", but through sheer logic, or rather lack thereof:
I came to learn of other celebrities' deaths, including that of LG Petroff (arguably much less of a "name" than even Laiho) through my normal means of getting my info online:
News sites, reddit, facebook feeds, relevant music-related blogs/sites, etc.
And the coming into said knowledge was as-it-happened.

Laiho's death was absent from all of them, which is curious, because in the "standardized general base reality", he is a more significant figure than all the other names I mentioned, except for DMX.
To be fair, there is at least one more example of "ppl I found belatedly that they died", and that's Jeremy Bulloch - the actor who was in Boba Fett's suit in the original Star Wars trilogy - also part of the "standardized general base reality". He died last December.
But in his case, at least, there is a logical explanation for my lack of timely informedness: He died of natural causes, at an old age, and at a time of his life in which he was way past the prime for which he is a known name in the first place.

In Alexi's case, there isn't: Hence mine dumbfoundedness.

"How come news of Laiho's death are known only now, when he died like 4 months ago??

Was this ever mentioned anywhere??? Have said news been kept undisclosed on purpose??"

This is what you said. You keep implying that the news did not cover Alexi's death, or that if they did it was limited. It is not the news that did not cover Alexi's death (it has been conveyed to you a number of times now that the news covered his death extensively, it was even on CNN) it is 'your' news i.e. your facebook, blogs that you visit, etc. that did not cover it. The deduction is easy, you do not follow the news. That is why you missed the notice of his death. That is your fault. This is the "logical explanation" you are looking for, and there is nothing "curious" about it. Covering your tracks with stupid shit about multiple realities and base experiences is so preposterous its actually comical.

I never denied that the news covered his passing. I only said that said news somehow flew under my radar, and THAT's unexplainable.

The only thing I can think about when I see the name of this band is the classic Martini Twins vid of them covering Bodom After Midnight

Cool shit, really enjoyed Alexi's solos here, the cover is slick as hell

I've struggled with alcoholism as well, stated quite a bit about my situation when the news about his cause of death came out.

"It's relatable, I'm only 28, but I found myself on the slippery slope. I run a business and sometimes the stress was so high that I was drinking at work. On Untappd I racked up over different 1,600 beers in a year, that is without having the same beer twice. In total including double ups I probably drank 3,000 beers last year, and I also drink Bourbon & Scotch. The types of beer I've been buying - many pint cans over 8% ABV. That is insane, and it was no wonder when I got a reality shock this year when my doctor told me my liver function was quite a fair bit down, had a fatty liver and at risk for cancer. My dad was an intense alcoholic, I'd see him down 2 litres of Jack a day, he came close to dying from severe liver cirrhosis, went to AA, and everything. Yet here was me getting on the grog every day, drinking a good 20 standard drinks per day and thinking gee golly I haven't got a problem because I never really feel very drunk at all."

It's been a bit of a road but since Jan I've really reigned it in, I've had big nights out with friends on the occasion but I've eliminated drinking at home entirely. No alcohol allowed in the house, only when I'm out and prepared for a night out do I partake. I have lost nearly 20kg in since. It's been lifechanging.

Just listened to the Dissection cover. Way to disrespect one of the greatest songs in Black Metal, if not even THE greatest one.
It's just not good, man... :/
