Days Go By wasn't very good honestly.

Perhaps maybe he and The Offspring are just not a very good pairing.

I disagree about the flatness. I like that he emphasizes instrument equilibrium in the stuff he produces. Perhaps that makes it all sound mushed together but I enjoy it. Also I suppose your opinion on the production of St. Anger depends on your opinion on the album as a whole. And I like that album.

Metallica hasn't had a good album production since Black Album...

Great review! I totally agree with you. Days Go By was so good and this new album being it's follow up, its almost impossible not to compare the two and be completely disappointed in LTBTR. In regards to Greg K, he's definitely on Coming for You since they wrote that a few years ago (also pointing to their struggle for content on this album, 2 fillers, 1 bad cover, and 1 old song).

I have no idea why they continue to work with Bob Rock.

I’ve recorded better sounding songs on GarageBand, the mix and master on this thing is awful. I used to love this band too.

if you like Offspring you probably love Smash but even on that record I'd say the guys vocals are super annoying

I think I agree on the production on this is being pretty flat

Usually the guitars are super crunchy with these guys on the albums. I felt like Dexter was way too forward in the mix and everything else is just plodding along in the background

I haven't spent near as much time with post Conspiracy Offspring, tho, so maybe that has been the case with their more recent offerings and I didn't notice until now

I don't mind Dexter's voice but it can be grating. I'll probably end up checking this eventually.

That lesson you mention learning from giving 'Days Go By' a second chance?

Yeah...I learned that lesson with 'American idiot', way back in the day.

Anyway, good review. Haven't been interested in anything these guys have put out since they sold out with 'Splinter', back in like '03.

The Vandals should make a comeback album called Staring at the sun or some other offspring song and I bet it will way better than whatever this album is.
